After winning the Grammys on Sunday, Zakes Bantwini’s wife, Nandi Madida, and their son witnessed a violent crime in South Africa. The model and media personality tweeted her harrowing account.
After trying to rob a woman on London Road in Linbro Park, north of Johannesburg and near Alexandra, a group of hijackers shot a security guard on February 7. EWN reported that the security guard returned fire and shot the men, who were taken to Tembisa Hospital.
Nandi, Zakes Bantwini’s wife, was caught in the traffic jam.
Taking to Twitter, she shared how she had witnessed the shooting play out. She tweeted: “I was here with my son, on my way to drop him off at school. I had to distract him from the scene by playing videos on my phone. The state of this country is heartbreaking.
Nandi added: “Our kids live in fear. Something drastic has to change. We can’t all be living in fear”.
