Mzansi Calls Lloyiso Homophobic After Sam Smith Diss

Lloyiso, Idols SA former contestant got the week started on a high note. This comes as the beloved soulful singer-songwriter with an angelic voice received a co-sign from internationally recognized R&B artist Chris Brown. However, the same article that garnered him plaudits has also resulted in him trending for all the wrong reasons.

The internationally acclaimed English singer-songwriter makes their South African debut in 2019. Among the opening performers for his country tour were Bonj, Mafikizolo, and Lady Zamar.

Lloyiso, on the other hand, wanted to open for Sam. So much so that he pitched himself for the role while singing his own rendition of Smith’s popular track Pray at the time.

While Lloyiso did not get the opportunity. For his growing presence on YouTube and musically, the comparison for the general public was never not there seemingly. As such, following his reaction to Chris Brown’s co-sign, a follower commented on the post suggesting that Lloyiso was like the South African version of Sam Smith.

To most reading the post, it sounded innocent enough. However, Lloyiso’s reply was a surprise as he warned the follower that he would block them.

As a result, his remark did not take long to gain traction. This is because tweeps said they didn’t see anything wrong with the tweet unless Lloyiso thought he was being outed.

Lloyiso explained that he disagreed with the “like” aspect of the post. He no longer wanted to be “like” Sam Smith. Instead, Sam Smith’s career motivated him. In his 2019 article, he confirmed the tweet’s claims.

This led to speculation that Lloyiso was now outraged by Sam Smith’s butch/femme image, which has garnered him criticism. Lloyiso may want to separate himself from the reality before it is discovered that he is also LGBTIQ+.
