MacG, the host of Podcast And Chill, confirmed on Monday’s episode that he had fired his sound guy Aya.
The news shocked Chillers because Aya has played an important role in the Podcast since her arrival.
According to MacG, despite receiving a warning, Aya submitted the sound for some episodes late.
On Monday, when the episode was released late, Aya informed Mac that he was dealing with family issues.
After checking WhatsApp, MacG came across Aya’s previous day’s status, which read: “Nothing better than chilling with friends and listening to my own album.”
This resulted in his dismissal, among other things.
Another person fired from the podcast is driver Thuso. MacG also detailed the events that led to his dismissal. Thuso is currently working as Sir Trill’s driver.
In the latest episode of Podcast and Chill, we were privy to details that surrounded the podcast’s End of Year function. From all accounts, it sounded like the staffers had fun all around. More so as MacG hired a large spit braai, inspired by the success of the spit braai was during his recent birthday celebration.
While the spit braai was a success during the actual function, the drama then began when it was meant to be delivered back to the company it was hired from by the driver, Thuso.
MacG suggests that he got a call from Thuso detailing how the spit braai allegedly flew off the back of the bakkie, and after they off-ramped to retrieve it from the highway when they arrived at the same spot it was gone.
Given the design and size of an actual spit-braai, the story already gave off “huh” vibes.
This led MacG to believe that Thuso might have taken the spit braai to Tembisa to start his own spit braai hiring side hustle.
So How Much Does MacG Make On YouTube?
It’s no secret that Mac G has the biggest YouTube channel in Mzansi in the entertainment space. The broadcaster-turned-podcaster gets hundreds of thousands of views, if not millions on his channel weekly.
This has a lot of people questioning how much money he is making from YouTube and if someone can actually make money from YouTube.
Social Blade is an American website tracking social media statistics and analytics. Social blade most notably tracks YouTube among other social media platforms
According to Social Blade, Mac G makes about 1.3 to 21k dollars per month which amount to roughly R322k per month on YouTube from Ad Sense, excluding sponsorships and partnerships.
His yearly earnings are about 16k to 257k per month. About R3.8 million per year from YouTube. The social blade is not always accurate.
Mac G’s earnings was something that was discussed in detail on Nkululeko on Cultr who also owns iDiski TV.
“iDiski TV makes from World Sports Betting and from YouTube money we easily make R400k to R500k per month because the deal alone with sports betting is R300k.
“When I’m breaking it down with the level of digital-only we make maybe get around 40k on YouTube content alone. If we get over a million views a month.”
