King Misuzulu Zwelethini’s appointment as Zulu King has been heavily criticized, as has one of his wives, Ntokozo Mayisela.
The royal’s wife and baby mama has been chastised for her appearance, which many social media users have described as “unhealthy.”
On Thursday, 23 February, Misuzulu officially addressed the KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature for the first time as a crowned king.
In 2022, it was reported that Misuzulu was seeking a Zulu virgin to birth him an heir to the throne.
However, the Zulu King does, in fact have two wives and several children.
According to IOL, the king wed his long-time partner Ntokozo Mayisela, a day before his mother’s funeral on 6 May 2021.
Ntokozo – a philanthropist and jazz music student – has two children with the king. The couple reportedly met in 2009 at Misuzulu’s sister’s wedding in Durban.
According to TshisaLive, the king also has a son with Princess Wezizwe Sigcau of the amaMpondo heritage.
IOL reported last year that Misuzulu also took a second wife – Nozizwe Mulela – although the couple has yet to have a wedding ceremony.

On Thursday, King Misuzulu arrived at the Oval Cricket Stadium in Pietermaritzburg to deliver his maiden speech ahead of the opening of the KZN provincial legislature.
The Zulu king wore a black suit with a purple sash, signifying his royal status.
Joining him was his wife, Ntokozo Mayisela, who wore a flowing printed gown, which she paired with gold earrings and a designer bag.

But apart from her unflattering fashion choice, Twitter users criticised the royal wife over her weight.
@Sabza200BC: “I love her Royal Highness, but they need to find her a diet plan. No disrespect, but it’s unhealthy to be this big.”
@TheDBK84: “Our queen needs to lose weight. Call it bodyshaming, BUT this level of thickness is unhealthy.”
@AdvocateOfTrut2: “He could have chosen a better wife or at least assisted this one to lose weight.”
@Kamohelo_Moloii: “No disrespect to the Queen, but she needs to look after herself. How does she inspire young princesses? There’s nothing inspiring about obesity.”
