K.O reacts to news that hip hop is not peaking, even on a global scale. Over time, SA hip hop suffered on the charts as it was washed away by Amapiano’s massive movement.
However, in recent months, rappers such as K.O., Nasty C, Emtee, and the late AKA have kept the flame of rap music burning.
Mr. CashTime got triggered by a US report that reads, “No Hip Hop album or song has hit no 1 in 2023.” The news left the rap star sad and revealed that the worst is yet to come.
“A trickle-down effect sadly. Already been tough for mainstream hip-hop in SA and clearly, the worst is yet to come seeing this is the current state of US hip-hop. SA rappers oughta adapt or get left,” he wrote.
Most of his fans, however, believe otherwise, arguing that because rappers like Drake have yet to release an album this year, it is understandable if no rap music tops the charts.
No mainstream rapper has dropped that why. Drake or Travis Scott easily hit number 1 when they drop.
