Cele revealed that progress has been made during a media briefing in Westbury, Johannesburg, on Tuesday, March 8.

BHEKI CELE REPORTS THAT CELL PHONES HAVE BEEN COLLECTED.

He revealed that he is constantly receiving updates on the case, the most recent of which was on Monday at 22:00.

Cele stated that, while he is unable to say much, police have retrieved a number of cell phones as part of the investigation.

“Maybe [there are] things I am not meant to say. But one of them [that I] can say, we have collected many cellphones that were working, download and all that kind of thing. [We are] trying to patch and knit things together. That is the last I received yesterday (Monday, 6 March 2023). The process is there.

“We acknowledge that it is not with the speed that the community and the nation would’ve loved to see but mark the space we are digging deep in this case,” Minister Cele explained.

Rapper AKA — real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes — was murdered in cold blood on 10 February outside Wish on Florida in Durban when two gunmen opened fire on him and his team, also killing his friend and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

AKA’S FANS CLAIM THE MINISTER IS LYING

Reacting to Cele’s update on the AKA and Tibz murder investigation, tweeps called the minister a liar.

Some expressed that this will be another cold case; likening it to that of slain Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa who was killed almost nine years ago.
