Deputy President Paul Mashatile Weds Friend’s Widow, Humile Mjongile

Congratulations are in order for new South African deputy president Paul Mashatile, who paid lobola for his fiancée, Humile Mjongile, on Saturday, 11 March.

The South African website reported last week that the ANC politician had found love again following the death of his wife, Manzi Ellen Mashatile, in July 2020. Palesa, Thabiso, Tinyiko, and Ayanda are the couple’s two sons and two daughters.

The father-of-four, according to the Sunday Times, dispatched a delegation to his new fiancée’s home in Leondale, Johannesburg, for lobolo negotiations.

According to News24, his younger brother, Ncane Mashatile, led the lobola negotiations with eight other men.

The union of newly appointed ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile has sparked chatter on social media after it was revealed that he reportedly married his close friend’s widow, Humile Mjongile.

Humile Mjongile(birth name, Humile Bogatsu) is the widow of former ANC Western Cape secretary, Songezo Mjongile. Mjongile died in September 2020 after a battle with colon cancer.

The beauty is a mother to two children; a baby boy named Zondwa Songezo Jnr and a girl named Goapele Zenani Mjongile.

According Zimoja, Humile is 37 years old. This makes her 24 years younger than her husband-to-be, Mashatile, who is 61 years old.

In 2021, Humile launched a foundation that seeks to raise awareness about colon cancer.

It is reported that Mjongile and Mashatile’s wife only passed away three years ago, raising the question of when the pair started seeing each other.

“I think he is happy. They must give him space to enjoy and be happy and have a life,” he was quoted as saying.

The happy couple is billed to have their star-studded, glitzy wedding later in the year.
