Cassper Nyovest Was Called Out For Lying About Ownership

Thuto, Cassper Nyovest’s 2017 sophomore album, was arguably his best. Destiny, Superman, Tito Mboweni, and Baby Girl were hits from the album.

Even Billiato’s unreleased songs are underrated. Nyovest’s feat still baffles his fans. However, Cassper seems to want all the credit for his new album, forgetting the producers who helped him.

Cassper called out for lying about ownership

On Monday, Americans celebrated Martin Luther King Day. As such, the speeches from the political figure were circulated on social media. One in particular featured the speech which he said the night before his assassination.

The speech was used for Cassper’s Touch The Sky track which is on Thuto. Moreover, the song had sampled the House classic single of the same name by Dennis Ferrer released in 2007. However, the sample was then changed to have a more Hip-Hop feel with the inclusion of a heavier bass.

When asked about the fact, Cassper asserted that the beat was actually his. A fact which at face value could be read to mean that it is his because he was the one rapping on the song. However, there was the question of whether he meant that he produced the beat himself.

While Cassper did not entertain being questioned further as to his sentiments. Gemini Major or real name Benn Gilbert Kamoto seem to take offence to Cassper taking credit for his work. As such, he clapped back at the suggestion by sharing the producing credits of the song. A fact which he seemed to have wanted to allude to the fact that he produced the beat in question.

However, this is not the first time that Cassper has found himself being caught out in a lie about how much input he has put into “producing a song.” Just the year before 2022, in 2021, he was involved in a back and forth with vocalist Boohle after alleging he wrote the entire song and arranged the melodies. As reported at the time:

Boohle Throws Cassper Under The Bus

Yesterday saw another celebrity edition of Podcast And Chill with Mac and as usual, it was nothing short of drama. The guests were Amapiano vocalists Boohle and Njelic.

Speaking to Boohle, Mac G implied that Cassper did not make a lot of contribution to the record. “He didn’t write anything on that song? He only came with his verse. I wasn’t even there.” Added Boohle.

Mac G further added that Cassper’s contribution was not needed on the track.

“And let’s be honest, if you listen to that song – it sounds like Boohle featuring Cassper. Like that verse was not needed, let’s be honest.” He said.

Cassper saw a snippet of the interview on social media and expressed his disappointment. Despite all of this, Mufasa says that he has got nothing but love for Boohle.

“This is so disappointing and I’ve watched it a few times. I won’t even explain anything about how this song was written but I got so much love for Boohle man. One of the most gentle of souls I’ve met and we made magic together. May God bless her, May she make many more hits.” He tweeted.
