Bonko Khoza has claimed that the role of Mqhele Zulu on The Wife does not belong to him and may be played by anyone who is qualified. During his debut, the star captured the hearts of many fans.
Despite playing a dislikeable character, his acting abilities pleased many; nonetheless, many were unhappy when it was announced that he would not be returning for season three.
On Thursday, the third season of the Showmax original telenovela returned, giving viewers their first genuine taste of the new Mqhele, played by Wiseman Mncube.
Khoza took to Twitter to beg people to welcome Mncube rather than criticize or compare their abilities. Although there have been varied comments to Mncube’s internet debut, it appears that many people are impressed with his acting abilities.
“I pray one day the audience and the creators can be on the same page because there’s a real disconnect between what happens behind the scenes and what the public sees. This character does not belong to me. It belongs to Sis Dudu and Showmax. Meaning it can be played by whoever they see fit. As for me I did my fair share. And now it’s time to give other actors a chance on the same big platform that I got given a chance,” he wrote.
He further added “Once we as an audience can tap into this idea of creativity and collaboration instead of being entitled to actors’ lives, you’ll enjoy the art of what we’re actually doing so much more, I promise you. Much love. It belongs to Sis Dudu and Showmax. Meaning it can be played by whoever they see fit. As for me I did my fair share. and now It’s time to give other actors a chance on the same big platform that I got given a chance.
