On the occasion of the initiative’s launch, the Grammy-winning musician blessed 100 needy families as well as three non-governmental organizations, Ngangelizwe, Qweqwe, and Zimbane.

Lungi Maphumulo, CEO of the Black Coffee Foundation, discusses the recently launched Food Book and the initiative’s goal.

“We are concentrating on mostly rural areas because that is where we believe we will find disadvantaged families. The reason we started this Black Coffee Food Bank is because Black Coffee grew up here in Mthatha. He got to experience the problems faced by the communities of Mthatha and that is why we decided to donate food as no one must go to bed hungry. We believe that every family must have a good Christmas like all families,” she said.

“As they say charity begins at home so this initiative is very close to his heart. We are all about improving the lives of the needy people. We want to teach people that each one must help one another for people to have a better tomorrow. Nobody must go to bed on an empty stomach,” she added.
