DJ Tira won the Metro FM Awards 2023 for Best Kwaito/Gqom. He beat Big Nuz’s fan-favorite Ngeke, Ukhozi FM’s Song of the Year 2022.
DJ Tira and Afrotainment celebrated the win with Babes Wodumo on stage. This followed their Kwaito/Gqom medley performance on stage.
Babes’ body language during DJ Tira’s acceptance speech caught the public’s attention quickly. The video showed Babes Wodumo felt uncomfortable performing with DJ Tira and his crew.

On the one hand, it is believed the discomfort could have stemmed from the fact that Babes was still mourning the passing of her late husband. More so as this was one of the first times that she has been seen on a national platform since the scandals surrounding Mampintsha, and just over a month later, his mother’s passing.

On the other hand, some felt that Babes’ suffering was the result of something else. Her conflicted sentiments regarding DJ Tira, in particular.
This comes after Babes allegedly had a Facebook Live session ahead of the award ceremony in which she discussed how DJ Tira has not honored his pledge to safeguard and help Babes relaunch herself musically since Mampintsha’s death.
