On Tuesday, 30 May, a video circulating on Instagram startled netizens by showing American rapper Travis Scott – real name Jacques Bermon Webster II – partying with DJs performing South African Amapiano music.
Travis Scott and his baby mom, millionaire Kylie Jenner, announced their breakup in early January after dating for five years. They have two children: Aire, who is 14 months old, and Stormi Webster, who is five years old. The rapper is believed to be a big party animal, whereas Kylie is not. According to a person who spoke to People Magazine,
“He [Travis] likes to party. They definitely have different focuses. They always did.”
The duo continues to have a relationship to co-parent their children.
In a recent video doing the rounds on Instagram, Travis could be seen in a club having the time of his life. He held a camera in his hand and danced whilst recording DJs playing an Amapiano track titled Izolo by DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU, featuring Madumane. The song was released in 2021 and has over 1.4 million views on YouTube.
Following the appearance of the American rapper in the video, netizens were amazed to learn that Amapiano music was also liked by Hollywood A-listers. They expressed their delight at seeing Amapiano’s global expansion.
