On Friday 10 February, rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, was fatally shot outside of Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban; the shooting also killed his long-term friend and business associate, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane. Here’s what we know about the man who died with the initials AKA.
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TEBELLO ‘TIBZ’ MOTSOANE
1. HIS HOME
Tibz reportedly grew up in Katlehong, a large township approximately 28 km southeast of Johannesburg.
Doing a Q&A with Biz News , Tibz was quoted as saying,
“The hood gives you like a blind spot, you know, it’s very difficult to explain, but it makes you a negotiator. It makes you see the things that aren’t necessarily there; you kind of have to figure them out, you know. So, everybody in the hood is innovative. Everybody is entrepreneurial, in my opinion, you know, because you have to, you know, but we didn’t know this at the time. So, a lot of the stuff that I kind of execute today, I think I learnt it from just watching people in the hood.”
2. TIBZ EDUCATION
As a youngster, Tibz reportedly took up basketball in an aim to lose weight and became so good at the game that he bagged himself a scholarship to study International Relations and Media Studies at Wits. He later reportedly dropped out.
3. INSIDE HIS CAREER
Tibz reportedly founded an event management company in 2006, named, Show Love. Tibz wore many hats. By June 2019, he reportedly managed rapper AKA, was a seller of clothing labels and fine wine, and a chef at his pop-up restaurant, Café Tibz”.
Speaking about his relationship and working with AKA, Tibz was quoted as saying,
“So, he [AKA] was kind of like a Show Love hype man in the beginning. I had a relationship with him…
“Yeah, he was definitely like a Show Love influencer, you know, I had a relationship with the IV League, which was the production house that he was a part of. And I would heard his music and I put him on stages, you know, put him on my stages, you know. And in terms of managing him, it was probably the most organic thing ever. Like it just happened. Literally. He was in my apartment in Killarney, and we were working; we were just working on stuff. Yeah.”

4. COVER BOY?
Tibz had been featured on the cover of My Kitchen Magazine. In the feature, he showed off some of his secrets to cooking a perfect steak. In February of the same year, he also did a Q&A with GQ, where he gave his tricks for being a good host in the summer.
