It’s almost four years to the day since the Comedy Central Roast of AKA was filmed, and there’s a line from Super Mega himself that South Africans are still reeling from…
And the timing is bittersweet, coming just over a week after his death.
The 2019 show, hosted by his close friend Pearl Thusi, entertained South Africans with its hilarious jokes and burns.
A star-studded panel appeared on the show, including Nina Hastie, Moshe Ndiki, Davido, Joesy Rasdien, Mark Fish, Papa Penny, and others.
In a clip that has been revisited in the last week since AKA’s death, the hitmaker himself is seen addressing the audience and panel of the Comedy Central Roast.
He says jokingly: “Imagine a South Africa without AKA? What a terrible place”.
Taking a swipe at his rap rival Cassper Nyovest, AKA added: “All you have is some wierd guy dancing with a bottle, forcing people to come to his shows.”
“The truth is, you all f**king love me”.
Growing sentimental, the hitmaker thanked his legion of fans, friends, and family.
“Thank you for putting up with my sh*t,” he added.

RIKY RICK ALSO MADE AN APPEARANCE
During the same show, another fallen music icon, Riky Rick, also made an appearance.
The rapper and producer was seen seated in the audience while comedian Jason Goliath fired shots at him in a pre-show roast.
Jason teasingly said to the star – who tragically ended his life a year ago – “I didnt even recognise you. You’re dressed in a car guard uniform made by Gucci.”
