DJ Sbu was defended by South Africans after controversial gossip blogger Musa Khawula mocked him in his latest Pope of Pop Culture episode. Musa blasted Sbu for peddling his MoFaya energy drink in Tembisa streets in a video clip on Twitter.
Musa’s comments follow Sbu’s discussion of Prime, a worldwide energy drink that has sold well in the country since going popular on social media.
After Prime energy drinks became viral in South Africa, DJ Sbu was plagued by social media troubles.
His MoFaya energy drinks have been compared to an R480 foreign sports drink sold locally.
Over the past week, hundreds of customers bought Prime energy drinks at Checkers for R40.
This has left many people wondering why Sbu’s MoFaya has failed to create the same hype.
According to Musa Khawula, him and his friends have seen Sbu selling them in poor Tembisa streets — something which he evidently thinks is bad.
Musa Khawula mocks DJ Sbu for selling MOFAYA down the streets of Tembisa? 😳😳😳🤡
Jackie Phamotse is the co-owner of MoFaya Beverage Company, the first black owned energy drink? Up! ❤❤

The post didn’t sit well with the musicians fans who pointed out that there us absolutely nothing wrong with selling the drinks in the streets.
“Hebana he’s showing to love to ko kasi and he’s grinding his product ? What’s funny here actually . Are we laughing at people making a living now?” one person wrote while another added:
“I honestly don’t understand what is funny about people selling their products even on the streets.. honest work.”
