AKA’s mother, Glammy, celebrated her 50th birthday and the birth of her first grandson, Kairo, by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro five years ago. This time, Lynn Forbes has hinted at her desire to climb Everest, the world’s highest mountain.

But her circumstances are far from joyous. Her son AKA was shot and killed outside a Durban restaurant just two months ago by an unknown shooter. Police have yet to make an arrest.

Earlier this week, Lynn Forbes shared a bittersweet Instagram Story of a picture of the mountain. She captioned it: “Everest. The mountain is calling, and I must go”.

The IG Story was set to AKA’s track Everest of his posthumous album Mass Country.

Mount Everest is located in the Himalayan mountains across the China–Nepal border in Asia.

It’s unclear if or when Lynn will embark on the dangerous expedition. However, she does have invaluable experience. In 2018, Lynn and a group of climbers submitted Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest mountain in Tanzania.

The mission was three-fold: celebrating her 50th birthday, her first grandchild Kairo Forbes, and raising money for charity.

Lynn was part of the 2018 Trek4Mandela Expedition, which raised over R1 million to support charities for disadvantaged school girls in South Africa.

“The most free I’ve ever felt”, she captioned a clip of her adventure.

RICKY RICKY’S MOM CONQUERED WORLD’S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN

A month after his death last year, Riky Rick’s mother, Louisa Zondo, also undertook the momentous task of climbing Mount Everest.

The rapper tragically ended his life on 23 February after a long battle with depression. He was 34 years old.

She said of her motivation: “I’m reflecting on life, death, and the meaning of everything. I decided to proceed with this trek to Mount Everest Base Camp not only because I knew you would want me to do so but also because I imagined it would present the perfect opportunity, over 14 days, for me to wrestle with the questions – what is the moment; and how does this moment call me to be”.

According to IOL, the Everest Base Camp – perched on the Khumbu Glacier at the foot of Everest – is at an altitude of 5600 metres, reached over nine days. Many climbers take a break from climbing.

For Louisa, the experience was bittersweet.

She shared: “As I took in the unspeakable wonders of the mountain, the sense of you being part of it all was so real MaRiky…I laughed out loud and shouted out your name”.

In another post, she shared: “Coming to the realisation that your life gave real meaning to this wisdom is blissful. I am grateful to this Mount Everest Base Camp trek for presenting me with this insight.

“I joyfully confirm that, to me, you can never die”.
