DJ Njelic, real name Tshwarelo Motlhako, did not appear for a birthday party on April 1st.
According to ZiMoja, Njelic was paid an undisclosed sum for his performance but did not attend the birthday party in Brits owing to a tyre problem.
The event’s organizer, Luda Vee, expressed his dismay when his driver arrived to pick up the musician and his team, but they refused to get into the car.
“They didn’t come to my event because they were drunk, now people who paid to come see him perform want their refund with some going to my mother’s house to demand their money,” added Luda. He says he has lost interest in hosting events because of people like Njelic. “I will do whatever it takes to get my cash back,” Luda tells the publication.
However, the DJ wrote an apology to the organiser.
“Making our way to Brits, from a gig in Sandton, a nail pierced our tyre, which resulted in a slow puncture. “We drove to the nearest garage with the hope that we’d get some help, only to find the tyre repair guy had knocked off and we communicated with the event organisers and we advised that he would be kept up to date with our progress. We drove 10km to get to the garage. That’s when we noticed the tyre had torn from the inside. He said he sent communication and pictures to the event promoter, explaining his situation,” Njelic’s statement read partly.
“I would like to deeply apologise to the promoters and my fans who were looking forward to listening to Njelic. When I go out on a performance, I always give 100%. And on that day, I don’t think I would have given my all if I had persisted in doing the show. I would love to apologise to everyone who was inconvenienced by this. I hope you understand,” he said in an apology penned by Auto TwoGent Entertainment.
