South Africans are not reasonably sure the right men were arrested in connection with rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane’s brutal murders.

This comes after images of the suspects, published by IOL, circulated on social media on Monday, March 27.

On Sunday, the publication reported that three men had been detained for questioning in Cape Town, Western Cape. Netwerk24 corroborated the report, adding that two other men were also arrested in Belhar after police trailed them for weeks.

DNA and fingerprints were reportedly found in a deserted getaway Mercedes-Benz in Umlazi, allegedly belonging to a notorious hitman from Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

However, police in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape have still not confirmed or denied the new developments in the case.

KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: “There is no update on the AKA matter at this stage. Police will provide progress on the matter in due course.”

A day after AKA and Tibz were gunned down outside Wish on Florida restaurant in Durban, harrowing CCTV footage of the assassination was shared across all social media platforms. The gunmen’s body shapes are visible throughout the video, with some fans claiming that one of the hitmen had the body of a woman.

However, after images of the suspects started circulating on Monday, AKA’s fans could not help but notice that their body shapes do not match those of the two gunmen who opened fire that fateful night.
