‘I DIDNT GROW UP RICH’
Despite his R18 million estimated net worth, Nhlanhla Lux insists he wasn’t born into a life of privilege.
In an interview with 702 last month, Nhlanhla spoke about his childhood, which he claims had humble beginnings.
Lux attended a private school – St Davids’s Marist – thanks to his mother, who was a cleaner in several high-end retail stores in Sandton and Hyde Park.
He said: “My mom was smart enough to make a deal with the shop owners, who were white women….she said, ‘I’d like for my son to go to the same school as your kids. You don’t have to pay me. Just give me transport money”.
He also earned a scholarship to study in China.
Lux added: “A lot of people think I had a privileged life, I didn’t. I had a fantastic mother who put me first. And that’s why I am who I am”.
