Siv Ngesi has had a difficult year. The broadcaster and actor began the year on a high note after learning that he would be appearing in the now-blockbuster action film The Woman King, which stars a female lead. But he also had to deal with the loss of his mother, and he still talks about his journey to healing after her death.

In terms of his activism, however. Ngesi transitioned from attempting to raise awareness and coverage of the South African drag scene. This is how he first introduced his drag alter ego, Savanna. However, in light of the backlash he received for allegedly attempting to galvanize and profit from being a straight identifying man in drag, Ngesi appears to have decided to enter politics.

First, it was him teasing that he would spearhead activations which would see the ruling party out of office and the matter of loadshedding finally being a thing of the past. However, his recent assault on social media on former President Jacob Zuma’s daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambula, tweeps have been dragging him for filth.

Siv Ngesi to Dudu Zuma: “Hey ms*n*”

Duduzile Zuma, who is also the twin sister to Duduzane Zuma, has become the unofficial-official spokesperson for her father. As such, in light of the African National Congress National Executive Committee (ANC NEC) where Dudu believed that the ANC KZN would win seats and see Zuma return as the President of the ANC.

In light of ANC KZN losing dismally as none of their delegates managed to make the ANC NEC, Siv seemed to get satisfaction from this point and went onto Twitter to call out Dudu with a belligerent tweet.

Whether Siv knew how brutal the political game in South Africa is or not, is a matter that still hangs in the air. More so as it did not take long for the post to garner traction as tweeps who sided with Dudu were quick to drag him for filth.

But Siv seemed to enjoy the traction as he made it clear that he would not delete the post. Moreover, going on to continue berating Dudu on Twitter. Therefore, it came as no surprise that tweeps used the fact that Siv is an advocate for drag, the gay ongoing allegations, along with being an advocate for men who do pole dancing, to continue the onslaught.

Those on the fence about Siv and his tweets directed to Dudu are not necessarily based on Dudu as a political figure. But they are based on Dudu being a daughter and a woman in South Africa. Therefore, given the climate in South Africa on women, many believe that Siv is perpetuating misogynistic tendencies with his tweets directed at her.

Moreover, Ntsiki Mazwai has also come in defence of Dudu by highlighting that her advocacy is that of her father, who happened to be president before. Therefore, for Siv to not understand that, it might be due to the fact that he might have not had a present father and does not understand that dynamic between daughter-and-father.
